Come and spend a couple of hours at our Wild Family Woodland Play in the Deepdale Woods. This beautiful, private woodland at Deepdale Farm is the perfect spot to spend a couple of hours pitting your wits against some fun challenges. Who can build the tallest twig tower? Can you figure out how tall the giant is who visited our woodland? Paint a pebble and make a twig family. How about build a fairy home or try your hand at nature weaving?

What should we expect from the wild woodland play?

Activities are led by Alison and Rosie, both former teachers who are passionate about outdoor learning through play.

The activities for our Wild Family Woodland Play will be set up from 10am to 3pm. You are free to arrive at any time up to 1.30pm, in order to give you enough time to have a good go at all the challenges. We suggest giving yourself 2 hours for maximum fun and enjoyment. You can move between the activities at your own pace.

Each group can have a maximum of 6 people. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and remain the responsibility of their adult at all times.

Ideally book in advance to receive full joining instructions, even if it’s 5 minutes before you arrive. Otherwise, turn up on the day to pay onsite and read the information below carefully.

What should I bring to the Wild Family Play session?

There is no need to print your ticket, we have a list of participants.

Please wear sturdy shoes as the terrain is uneven (walking boots are ideal, but trainers adequate). Wear trousers to avoid stinging nettles and we also recommend bug spray to prevent bites.

Feel free to bring a picnic to enjoy within the woodland or at Downs Barn.

Please note no dogs are permitted on this experience.

Please keep to the area of woodland being used for the activities set up as part of the Wild Family Woodland Play, access into the wider woodland is not allowed and may be unsafe. It is a private wood and access outside of this event is prohibited, this includes the private drive leading up to the barn – no access is permitted beyond the campsite entrance.

How do I find the event?

Deepdale Farm is in Burnham Deepdale on the A149 coast road, between Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-Sea – Postcode: PE31 8DD

It is easy to find, as the farm entrance is opposite St Mary’s Church, and there is a large sign saying Deepdale Camping.

Please drive up the private drive towards the top of the hill. Follow the main drive around the wood on your right, and when the drive forks, follow the gravel track to the right where there will be a parking sign, directing you to the right hand side of the barn. There will be parking available on the grass outside the barn. Please drive carefully as this is a narrow drive which is not lit, there are regular speed bumps, and some passing places at field entrances. It is a mile to the top of the hill, so if you decide to walk from the campsite or village, please allow adequate time, but we would recommend driving if possible. Cycling is not recommended because the track is very gravelly and quite steep.
